As per the news published in an English daily on 13 May 2019, in India alone, 51% of the suicides among males who were facing trials under a single kind of assault against women, were due to false allegations being leveled against them under a court of law.
It is just the tip of the iceberg. There are several such false cases still underpinning at different levels of the judiciary. Be it district courts, family courts, magistrate courts, high courts or even the supreme court has been burdened with cases.
It is a widely known practice, that an individual from a specific gender accuses a male of charges ranging from domestic violence, abuse, harassment, and rape to name a few. On the pretext of societal bias that safeguards female rights and empowers them for their benefit and safety, a wider proportion of women who are reaching to the courts, turn out to be avenging or scapegoating the male for their ulterior motives.
The agony is unbearable
Even before the actual court trial begins, the society passes its verdict in the favour of women, without even considering the male side of the story.
The media, supposedly the fourth pillar of democracy, behaves unapologetically against the male party, almost labeling him the convict.
The court proceedings, and facing the police are an additional disgust to the already levied trauma on the male. The abuses were hurled at a male, in other cases even beating him blue, considering he is already a convict because the female party has said so.
This scenario has empowered ill-willed females with the rights that were initially supposed to be used to safeguard them from the wrong. Instead, they are found misusing those rights against their counterpart to avenge or to fulfill an ulterior motive.
Several victims of such horrendous life-destroying, career-ending, character-shaming cases have been approached by us to understand the real pain behind it.
