You can apply for paternity leave depending on whether you are a single parent or a single father. There’s a difference. India’s federal and most state governments allow married male employees to take a fortnight’s leave at the time of, or within six months after, the birth of a child.
In India, central government employees get 15 days of paternity leave, but there is no formal policy in place for employees in the private sector. However, companies have set out progressive policies of their own.
