Obtaining or demanding money through forcing or blackmailing a person is one of the criminal activities which is known as ‘Extortion’ in law and order. IPC Section 384 talks about the punishment of Extortion. The fraudster is supposed to be imprisoned for three years or accused of submitting a fine or sometimes both. In your case, you have legal support and you can file a case against the fraudster and ask the police to investigate the matter. Punishment is strict as stated by law, hence, you will be provided with protection as long as you’re not safe and secure.
